Give the gift of life |
|
Blood donations from volunteer donors are high on the wish list for hospital patients and their families this holiday season. “In the time it might take to wrap a few gifts or send out holidays cards, you could help give someone a second chance at life,” said Anne Marckel, communications manager for the Western Lake Erie Region of the American Red Cross. “That’s a powerful gift, and something worth making time for.” To schedule an appointment to donate, call 1-800-GIVE-LIFE or visit givelife.org for information. Individuals who are at least 17 years old (16 with parental permission), meet height and weight requirements (at least 110 pounds based on height), and are in general good health may be eligible to donate blood. Red Cross donor card or valid ID required.
Upcoming blood drives: • Thursday, Dec. 3 — noon to 6 p.m. at the Oak Harbor VFW, 251 W. Main St., Oak Harbor. • Monday, Dec. 14 — noon to 6 p.m. Grace Lutheran Church, 19225 W. Witty, Elmore.
