Summer Cooling Program Starts July 1
The 2009 Summer Cooling Program operated by WSOS will begin July 1 and last until August 31, or until funds are exhausted, whichever comes first.

This year, the program, which began June 1 in the past, will provide income-eligible residents in Wood, Sandusky, Ottawa and Seneca counties who have a medical condition, verified by a doctor or over the age of 60 with assistance on their electric bill. Those served can receive up to $175 for payment of electric bill.
The Summer Cooling Program will provide a one-time payment of electric bill to those residents, who are income eligible; those households who have a resident 60 years of age or over; or households with a combination of those eligibility requirements.

However, residents who are income-eligible, but who do not have certified medical conditions, or someone in the house over 60 years of age, are ineligible for assistance on their electric bill. In addition, Emergency Services continues to certify residents for enrollment in the Percentage of Income Payment Plan (PIPP) for customers of Columbia Gas, the American Electric Power Company, Toledo Edison, Ohio Edison and Suburban Gas.

To make an appointment or for more information, contact WSOS Emergency Services at 1-888-441-4327.
