Phenomenal year for walleye fishing

I’m no expert, but I do believe that the heavy ice we had this past winter resulted in a very big shad kill. In turn, that removed a large portion of the walleye forage base. What does this mean? It means that walleye have been more eager to taste our offerings of painted metal, plastics, and live bait selections in an almost suicidal fashion.

Walleyes for Wounded Heroes

For the third year, and still growing, the Walleyes for Wounded Heroes came to fish in our Great Lake, Lake Erie. The Walleyes for Wounded Heroes is an extension of the Kentucky Wounded Heroes organization. The program offers Kentucky’s uniform members of the United States Armed Forces, law enforcement officers, fire fighters and emergency medical responders who have been injured in the line of duty, the opportunity to fish, relax and enjoy the natural healing resources that Lake Erie has to offer.

Don’t let blood sucking vampire black flies ruin your fun

The walleye fishing on Lake Erie’s Western Basin is still going strong with reports of people still catching easy limits on the west side of the islands. Nothing has really changed in how they are catching them, so if you want to drift cast by tempting them with “Weapons”, troll for them using spoons behind Jet Divers and Dipsies, crawler harnesses behind inline weights, or even crankbaits; everything is still working.
