Port Clinton falls to Huron, 65-55

Despite playing well at times, the Port Clinton Redskins fell to Huron 65-55 in Sandusky Bay Conference action last weekend.

Port Clinton guard Nathan Stubbelfield led all scorers with 22 points and was instrumental in helping to keep his team in the game.

After holding an early lead, the 'Skins rallied to cut the deficit within five points several times but were unable to get over the hump. Port Clinton trailed 29-25 and 37-33 before the Tigers (4-1, 3-1 SBC) were able to build their lead each time.

Carter Rumball helped pace the 'Skins with 11 points and hit a three-pointer with 2:40 to play to cut the deficit to 59-54 before Huron finished the game out on a 6-1 run to get the victory.

Happy New Year 2014!

Hundreds gathered on north Madison Street at midnight to watch the Walleye Drop for what might be the last time. Wylie 2 fell for 2014 and Don Clemons, Chairman of the Walleye Drop Committee, says he hopes that Wylie 3 will be able to ring in the New Year for 2015. Right now the committee is looking for an artist who works with metal or fiberglass that might be able to help accomplish this goal.

There was a great turnout for the 2014 Walleye Drop where the crowd frolicked in the snowflakes and rang in the New Year. Wylie the Walleye was there handing out bead necklaces and Mayor Vince Leone was there to rally the crowd.

Port Clinton’s Women’s Club selected as winner of Gift of Lights

Port Clinton Women’s Club’s winning tree

Main Street Port Clinton is pleased to announce that the Port Clinton Women’s Club is the winner of the 2013 Gift of Lights. Local businesses and organizations competed to win the best decorated Christmas tree at Adams Street Park in historic downtown Port Clinton. All money raised from the voting was donated to the Oak House.

The following businesses decorated a tree: Civilian Marksmanship Program, City of Port Clinton, Compassionate Friends, Diversified Insurance, Edgewood Manor, Greater Port Clinton Area Arts Council, Keith E. Fleming, Lake Erie Shores & Islands, Oliver H. Perry Lodge 341, Peace Lutheran Church, Port Clinton Artists Club, Port Clinton Women’s Club, Slater’s Madison Street Pub, and Team Devin.
