Redskins win 5-0 over Rockets

Port Clinton Boys tennis played Oak Harbor Wednesday in an SBC match at Oak Harbor.  The Redskins won 5-0.  This moved PC to 3-7 (2-3).

The scores were as follows:

1st Singles:   Noah Cross (PC) def. Bo Hermes (OH) 6-0, 6-0
2nd Singles:   Ryan Norgard (PC) def. Travis Fisher (OH) 6-1, 6-0
3rd Singles:  Dean Colston (PC) def. Zach Smith (OH) 6-0, 6-1
1st Doubles:  Tristan Auxter/Will Mercurio (PC) def. Ben David/Luke Giesler (OH) 6-2, 6-2
2nd Doubles:   Cameron King/Ellis Adolph (PC) def. Nick Heintz/Quinn Bodnar (OH) 6-2, 6-2

Noah, Ryan, and Dean all played very well Wednesday as we swept singles.  It was Dean’s first varsity singles match.  The PC doubles tandems also played quite well Wednesday in executing their strategies to win.

PC next plays Friday at Clyde at 4 p.m.


PC baseball team drops two

Huron 6, Port Clinton 4

Despite holding a late lead, Port Clinton was unable to hold on for the win, falling to Huron, 6-4.

The Tigers, trailing 3-1 in the fifth inning, scored three runs to take a 4-3 lead and after the Redskins tied it in the top half of the sixth, Huron scored twice in the sixth to grab the lead for good.

Down 3-1, Kyle Kovach reached on an infield hit, stole second and later scored on throwing error to bring the Tigers within 3-2. After two runners reached base, Tommy Bogden hit a two-run triple to put the Tigers ahead 4-3.

Trailing 4-3 in the sixth, Port Clinton had the bases loaded with nobody out but only scored once, doing so on a walk to Ian Kyle.

Keegan Bollenbacher got the win for Huron and Austin Krupp took the loss for the 'Skins.

Perkins 4, Port Clinton 1

Perkins broke a 1-1 tie with three runs in the fourth inning before defeating Port Clinton, 4-1, in Sandusky Bay Conference action.

Trevon Moore got the win for the Pirates and Zac Floro took the loss for the Redskins.

Perkins got two hits and a double from Luke Fraley. Braun Miller finished with two hits and two runs and Tahne Walton had two hits and an RBI.


PC softball team notches win over Huron

Behind a superb pitching performance from Kate Mueller, the Port Clinton softball team defeated Huron, 5-0, in Sandusky Bay Conference action.

Mueller struck out 12 in seven innings of work and didn't allow a run despite the fact that her defense committed five errors behind her.

At the plate, Mueller went 2 for 3 with two RBIs. Molly Haberman finished with two doubles and an RBI and Emily Ashley and Taylor Steyer had two hits apiece.

The Redskins jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the first inning and never looked back.

Perkins 13, Port Clinton 0

Perkins dominated this one throughout, scoring 11 runs in the first two innings on their way to a 13-0 victory over Port Clinton.

Marisa Ryerson and Cailyn Yates had one home run apiece, Summer Seitz went 3-for-3 with two RBIs and Corinne O'Hara and Cortnie Brown both finished 2-for-3 with an RBI.

With the loss, the Redskins fall to 6-9 overall and 1-4 in the SBC.
