Erie Pawn holding Open House Dec. 14

Dean Damman, owner and manager of Erie Pawn, never knows what’s going to come through the door. Located at 1175 W. Fremont Rd., Erie Pawn houses jewelry, coins, electronics, guns, guitars, cameras, tools and vehicles. Licensed to take big items, Damman has lot space in the back to take motorcycles, boats and cars. The shop also buys gold and silver. Erie Pawn is not just a pawn shop.

It took Damman three months to obtain the license to open Erie Pawn. Each pawn shop in Ohio has to be state regulated. An exam is given to get the license and the Ohio Department of Commerce checks in periodically on Ohio pawn shops to make sure rules and regulations are being followed. Continuing education is also needed by Ohio pawn shops to stay open. Continuing education is nothing new to Damman; he also teaches at EHOVE and has done so for three years. Damman teaches drafting, bearing installation, motor alignment and welding.

Are you ready for the day when your water bill will equal your car payment?
