Special meeting of council held for presentation by Washington Properties

On March 6 at 6 p.m. a special meeting of council was held in the city council chambers for a presentation by Mike Rose of Washington Properties. All members of council were present (Ron Aukerman of Ward 1, Jerry Tarolli of Ward 2, Margaret Phillips of Ward 3, Gabe Below of Ward 4, Nicole DeFreitas council at large, Lisa Sarty council at large, and Mike Snider council at large) except President of Council Linda Hartlaub and Clerk of Council Leigh Sprenger who were out because of illness. City Auditor Cole Hatfield acted as clerk and Mike Snider acted as president. Mayor Vince Leone was also present at the table for the meeting.

“This is a hot topic for the city of Port Clinton,” said Mayor Leone as the meeting was starting. “Due to input from the community the rendering (of the plan) has changed.”

Immaculate Conception Preschool open houses March 12 and 16

Immaculate Conception Preschool is located at 109 W. 4th Street in Port Clinton.  It is open to children of all faiths and is a state licensed preschool. On Wednesday, March 12, from 9-10:30 a.m., families interested in four year old preschool are invited to an actual school day to observe, play and learn.  Parents and children will have the opportunity to get their questions answered and meet the IC Preschool staff.  If a family plans to attend this session, call the school to at 419.734.3315. 

On Sunday, March 16, 11:45 a.m.-1 p.m., families interested in both three and four year old preschool classes can tour the school, meet the preschool staff, and pick up registration paperwork.  No reservations are necessary for this event.  For more information, call the school at 419.734.3315.

Port Clinton City Schools Announces Terrific Kids for February 2014

In cooperation with the Port Clinton Kiwanis Club, Port Clinton City Schools recognizes outstanding elementary students as “Terrific Kids”.  Terrific Kids are selected in each class each month to recognize students for working to the best of their ability to improve academic performance, behavior, relationships with peers, displays honesty, or attendance.  The following have been honored as Terrific Kids in February 2014:
