PCHS grad Blackburn receives Best of Cleveland award

Port Clinton High School and Kent State graduate artist Farin Blackburn was recently awarded a Best of Cleveland recognition in the October issue of Cleveland Magazine. Blackburn’s Seaworthi posters for college towns such as Kent and Athens are “a collision of funky calligraphy and geography”, said the article. She also has created a poster of “Young Cleveland”, which “includes new businesses and old, places that are creating a city for young artists and young professionals,” Blackburn says.

Justice French keynote speaker for Republican Women

Ohio Supreme Court Justice Judith French was the keynote speaker to a packed house at the annual fall banquet for the Ottawa County Republican Women's Club.

Other officials and candidates included County Commissioner Steve Arndt; Municipal Court Judge Fritz Haney; Congressman Bob Latta's wife, Marcia; Candidate Cassie Anderson, Ward I, Port Clinton Council; Candidate Trish McCartney, Ward III, Port Clinton Council; and Candidate Bert Fall, Auditor.
