Little Free Library Comes to Port Clinton

Been wondering what the new little structure on the north side of Lakeview Park is? No, it’s not a birdhouse; it’s a library! A Little Free Library sponsored by the Friends of the Park organization. A Little Free Library is a “Take a Book/Leave a Book gathering place where people can share their favorite literature and stories. Essentially, it is a box full of books that anyone may visit and pick up a book (or two) and bring back another book to share.

The Little Free Library movement was started in Wisconsin in 2009, and there are now libraries in every state and 10 countries.

Community garden

When I was talking by the field left after the old middle school was removed, I was struck by how suited it would be for a community garden. Not only to sell produce but to supply fresh food to the food banks. It would need a good organization to organize, but I think there would be plenty of volunteers to work in it. I would give a few hours a week, others would too.

First Annual Bird Ohio Day celebrated May 10

On Saturday, May 10, the trail head of the boardwalk at Magee Marsh was even busier than usual for the Biggest Week in American Birding. Senator Randy Gardner, Representative Chris Redfern, and representatives from the offices of Senator Sherrod Brown and Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur made remarks regarding the first annual Bird Ohio Day.
