Port Clinton City Schools refinance bonds, save money

The Port Clinton City School District is pleased to announce that its recent bond refinancing efforts will save district taxpayers in excess of $1 million in future debt service costs. 

In its original financing of the construction and renovation costs for Bataan Memorial, Port Clinton Middle School, and Port Clinton High School, the District utilized Build America Bonds (BABs). BABs were made available as part of the Recovery Act of 2009, and were intended to help lower borrowing costs on public capital projects. Congress and the Obama Administration encouraged public entities to use BABs to pursue needed capital projects, promising that the U.S. Treasury would pay a direct subsidy of 35% of the interest costs to the bond issuer.

Magruder has earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval™ for accreditation by demonstrating compliance with The Joint Commission’s national standards for health care quality and safety in hospitals. The accreditation award recognizes Magruder’s dedication to continuous compliance with The Joint Commission’s state-of-the-art standards. 

Magruder underwent a rigorous unannounced on-site survey in February. A team of Joint Commission expert surveyors evaluated Magruder for compliance with standards of care specific to the needs of patients, including infection prevention and control, leadership and medication management.

Port Clinton Rotary Club Hosts Annual Honors Banquet at PCHS

PCHS students Kelly Althaus, Morgan Donahue and Halee Jones enjoy dinner prepared by the Port Clinton Rotary Club at the Annual Honors Banquet at Port Clinton High School.

The Port Clinton High School Rotary Honor Banquet was hosted on May 7, in the Performing Arts Center.  The annual event is made possible by the generosity of several Port Clinton community groups, businesses and individuals while showcasing the academic achievements of Port Clinton High School Students.  Outstanding students from the Class of 2014 were awarded college scholarships.  Prior to the award presentations, Port Clinton Rotary Club hosted their annual dinner for all PCHS honor students, the scholarship winners, parents and presenters.
