Obama makes stops in Ottawa County

President Barack Obama made two unannounced stops in Ottawa County Thursday during the first day of his “Betting on America” bus tour.
Valerie Winterfield was at Kozy Corners with her kids on Thursday when Secret Service agents announced the President’s plan to stop there for lunch. She said they searched the restaurant and the diners and brought a dog through to sweep the place. Then in walked the President.
“He sat down and ate lunch right next to us,” she said. “He was really down to earth. Almost to the point where you didn’t realize it was the President.”
According to Winterfield, nobody talked politics but instead Obama patiently made his way to everyone in the restaurant, shaking hands, posing for pictures and asking the locals how the summer was going. He even shared his pie with Winterfield’s 8-year-old son, Mason.

Edgewood Manor earns deficiency free health survey

Edgewood Manor Health & Rehabilitation Center has just received a deficiency free health survey from The Ohio Department of Health.  A deficiency free survey represents that all aspects of the  facility are being operated by the guidelines set forth by the State.  Each department is thoroughly reviewed and evaluated  by the Department, over 500 regulations in a span of four days. They found no  areas of concern.  Edgewood Manor has now joined a small group of facilities in the State of Ohio to earn such results.

Democrats form new club

The newly formed Port Clinton Area Democratic Club will be holding its meetings at 5:30 p.m. on the second Wednesday of every month at club headquarters, 432 Fremont Road, Port Clinton.
The club’s goal is to have guest speaker programs, instructional workshops, recruit and support of candidates representing the Port Clinton area and surrounding townships, encourage and foster youth involvement as well as additional programs as the club grows.
