The Frederick Agency holds Ugly Sweater contest

On Wednesday, Dec. 18, the Frederick Agency, Inc. insurance agency held an ugly sweater contest online on their Facebook page. Voters had all day Wednesday to cast their votes and the winning ugly sweater was owner to Brooke Kilmer. Runner up was Linda Sorg.

Bataan Memorial students write letters to Santa

Kayden Thebeau, first grade, thinks about what to include in his letter to Santa with the help Jack Depner, fifth grade.

Students in Mrs. Nicole Heilmann’s first grade classroom wrote letters to Santa with the help of Mrs. Danielle Lajti’s fifth grade students.  The older students paired with a younger student to help carefully compose each letter.  While working on language art skills and letter writing, the lesson was also a way to give something back.  The letters were sent to Santa via Macy’s Make a Wish campaign, which donates $1 for each letter sent through the Macy’s special mailboxes.

The Salvation Army helps with happiness during the holiday

Salvation Army Volunteer, Donna Drusbacky, helps collect toys during the Toy Distribution at Harbor Lights Landing on Friday.

At the end of October, Ralph Ruta, owner of Harbor Light Landing on SR 53, donated space for the Salvation Army to use for their holiday donations and this year it was certainly put to good use. Wednesday, Dec. 18 was the first day of holiday distribution for the Salvation Army. Over 800 families from the area came to the distribution center and received donated items to make their holiday a happy one.
