PCHS Chorale off to State

In early March, the Port Clinton High School Chorale participated in the Ohio Music Education Association's (OMEA) District contest and received the highest rating of Superior. As a result, the Chorale qualified to participate in the OMEA State Contest on Saturday, May 3, at Van Buren High School. This is the first time in school history that a choir has qualified for and participated in this event. The group will be preparing three pieces of music that will be sung in a public performance for three judges, who will give them ratings based on their performance according to the National Music Standards for music education. Following the public performance, they will then sight-read a piece of music that they have never seen, and again, be given a rating from a judge based on their performance. These four ratings are then added together to determine an overall rating for the full event.
