Zoeller and Binder lead Port Clinton lady bowlers to championship

Port Clinton’s Lady Redskin Bowlers traveled to Tri County Bowl in Woodville Monday and rolled over the Gibsonburg Ladies, 2446-2196, to win the Northern Ohio Bowling Conference Championship. The Lady ‘Skins set a school record at 19-2 on the season. They were 13-2 in Conference action, breaking a tie with Eastwood by winning 2 of the 3 head to head matches. They also won the NOBC Tournament and OHSAA NW District Sectional Tournament. 

Alysia Zoeller led the Lady ‘Skins with a 191 game and a 340 two game series. Eryn Binder rolled 189-329, and Samantha Stroupe, 162-316. The other team members are Kassidy Mahler, Reilly Wittman, Jozlynn Seamon and Katelyn Chapman. 

The team will compete in the OHSAA NW District Tournament at Westgate Lanes in Lima Saturday at 10 a.m. The top 4 teams advance to the State Finals in Columbus.

Port Clinton boys defeat Fostoria, 72-52

Holding a one-point lead heading into the second quarter, the Port Clinton Redskins grabbed control against Fostoria by winning the middle two quarters by a 13-point margin to win, 72-52, in non-conference action last weekend. 

Leading13-12 after one quarter, Port Clinton (7-12) outscored the Redmen 43-30 in the second and third quarter to blow the game open.

Nathan Stubblefield led all scorers with 23 points, 19 of which came in the first half. Carter Rumball scored 12 points and Tytan Rumball and Stefan Daniels finished with 10 points apiece. Kagen Brown had 11 points to lead Fostoria, and Hunter Abell chipped in with eight points.

PCHS selling tournament tickets

Port Clinton High School will be selling tickets for the Boys Basketball Sectional Tournament game vs. Oak Harbor that will take place at Willard High School on Tuesday, Feb. 25, at 6:15 p.m. Pre-sale tickets will be available in the Main Office at the High School 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Pre-sale prices are $6 for adults and $4 for students. All tickets at the door on Tuesday, Feb. 25, will be $6.

There is no pre-sale for the Port Clinton Girls Sectional Championship game at Old Fort High School on Saturday, Feb. 22, at 6:15 p.m. 

Tickets at the door will be $6 for adults and $4 for students.
