Mike Lento is on point with On Point Wellness

On Sunday, Sept. 22, Mike Lento, his On Point Wellness team and participants from around the community flipped tires on the City Beach a total of 8 miles to benefit Chase Cortez and Devin Kohlman, two juvenile residents of our community who have cancer. On Point Wellness wasn’t the only business in the community to lend their hand in this event. Mary’s Blossom Shop was selling $10 bouquets  of roses to donate proceeds to the event, Perfect Color and Tan donated a percentage of their sales Friday and Saturday to go towards the event and many other business and private donations were made as well. In all $1500 was raised to go towards Chase Cortez, Devin Kohlman and their families to cover any expenses they have.

The Ninety-Nines expand the world by getting women into flight

On Sunday afternoon the Ninety-Nines made their annual trip to Port Clinton for their monthly All Ohio Chapter meeting. Edna Hansen of Port Clinton, Peg Ballou of Bucyrus, Kay Johnson of Grove City, Kathy Samuelson of Columbus, Sue Lemaitre of Fremont, Roberta Jones of Columbus and Middle Bass Island, Margaret Hazlett of Mansfield and Chris Creamer of Ashland were all in attendance at the September meeting at Liberty Aviation Museum. A few of the women from the Columbus area “plane-pooled” to attend.

Kids, bring your grownups to adventure playground

Use recycled materials to create your own adventure environments this Thursday, Sept. 26, from 5-8 p.m. at Port Clinton’s first Pop-Up Adventure Playground. The event, sponsored by United Way in Ottawa County, provides kids and families with recycled and other materials for a fun-filled evening of play. Held at Friendship Park on Perry and Madison Streets, the activity is free and open to all youth and their grown-ups.
