Birthday celebration for a good cause

Local business owner Michelle Kodak is about to celebrate a milestone birthday, her 40th. To honor the occasion, she is inviting the community to participate in a collection for Cleveland’s homeless. Kodak owns The Cakery's Bakery at 109 Madison Street in Port Clinton. Now through Oct. 22, she is collecting new socks for men, women, and children, along with warm hats and gloves,mittens, coats, bottled water, basic toiletries, and for children living in shelters coloring books and crayons or books to read.

Waiver days approved for Port Clinton Schools

The Port Clinton Board of Education voted to approve two waiver days for the Port Clinton City School District at their Monday, Oct.7, meeting

A waiver day is a day approved by the Ohio Department of Education in order to provide Professional Development for staff. This year, Port Clinton City Schools requested waiver days to provide staff training necessary for implementation of several state and federal educational mandates.

ICS says “Let’s stomp out bullying”

Immaculate Conception School Participated in Blue Shirt Day with World Day of Bullying Prevention on Monday, Oct. 7. The students were asked to wear a blue shirt to show their solidarity in stopping bullying and cyber bullying in our school, in our community, and in our world.  Immaculate Conception School has conducted several programs in the past year to reaffirm a zero tolerance within the school for bullying of any sort.
