Charles E. “Chuck” O’Neal, 72, of Port Clinton, OH died Monday, January 16, 2012 at Edgewood Manor Nursing Center, Port Clinton. O'Neal

He was born July 3, 1939 in Sandusky, the son of the late Edward J. and Elva (St Clair) O’Neal.  He married Nancy L. Luebcke on September 23, 1961 and she survives.  He worked for the Ohio Division of Wildlife from 1959-1964, Port Clinton City Schools Maintenance Department from 1964-1989.  He joined the Port Clinton City Fire Department in February of 1966 and was promoted to Fire Chief in 1996.  He was a charter member of the Port Clinton E.M.S.  He retired as Fire Chief in March of 2004.  He was a past-president of the Ottawa County Fireman’s Association, a Board member of EHOVE, a member of the Port Clinton Elks Lodge No. 1718 and a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Port Clinton.
Surviving are his wife: Nancy; sons: Jeffrey C. O’ Neal of Stony Ridge, OH, Brian W. (Lynne) O’Neal of Port Clinton; grandchildren: Kasey O’Neal, Meghan O’Neal and Rady O’Neal.  He was preceded in death by his parents.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father John Missler at 10:30 am Friday, January 20, 2012 at Immaculate Conception Church, Port Clinton.  Interment will be in Riverview Cemetery, Port Clinton, OH.   Visitation will be held Thursday from 2:00 – 4:00 and 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, Port Clinton where Port Clinton Fire Department prayer services will be held at 7:30 pm Thursday.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be given to Port Clinton Firefighters Association, Stein Hospice of Edgewood Manor Nursing Center.  On line condolences may be shared with the family at .
