Lydia T. Cook, 76, of Port Clinton, died Saturday, January 21, at Stein Hospice, Sandusky. She was born Feb. 17, 1935 in Russell County, VA the daughter of the late Clarence and Daisy (Self) Gilbert. She married Oscar Cook on Sept. 14, 1951 and he preceded her in death on August 23, 2005.
Mrs. Cook worked in Dietary as a cashier for Smith Co. Hospital in Marion, Va., and at Aime Packing in Port Clinton until her retirement in 1998. She enjoyed sewing, camping and playing in casinos. She especially emjoyed spending time with ther kids, grandkids and great-grandkids.
Surviving are her son: Oscar E. (Sandy) Cook of Lakeside-Marblehead; daughters: Patsy Cook of Port Clinton, Devatha "Susie" (Bob Brown) Zabilka of Roberts, WI, Jennie (Brian Gardner) Cook of Wilmington, DE; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandson; nephews: Robert Puckett of Lakeside-Marblehead, and Gilmore Puckett of Michigan. She was preceded in death by her husband Oscar and sister Anas Puckett.
Graveside services were conducted at 11 a.m., Monday, Jan.30, at LaCarpe Cemetery, Lacarne. There was no visitation. A Bereavement meal was served following the graveside service at Portage Township Hall on Old Rte 2.
