Mary Christine Shook, 98, of Berea, passed away Friday evening, Oct. 11, following a brief illness. She was born May 2, 1915, in Port Clinton, a daughter of the late Bennie B. and Alta (Bredehoft) Shook. Mary was a 1933 graduate of Port Clinton High School, and a 1935 graduate of Tiffin University, with a degree in business.
Mary worked in Cleveland for T.R.W. Corporation for many years before retiring in 1980. She enjoyed fishing, boating, gardening, reading, painting, and loved caring for her many pets over the years.
Mary is survived by two nieces, Nancy (Frank) Whipple, Boiling Springs, SC, and Dorothy (Kennis) Salyers, Port Clinton; three great nieces and two great nephews; eight great great nieces and three great great nephews; and life long friend, Dorothy Gilliland.
Mary was preceded in death by her fiancé, George Nelson; her parents; friend Pat Ralph; niece Sharon Mapes; nephew Christopher Whipple; sister Margaret Mapes; and brother-in-law Orlo Mapes.
Mary will be greatly missed for her wit and humor and love of life by all who knew and loved her.
