Marblehead gains new council member

Marblehead Mayor Jackie Bird issued the oath of office to the newest council member, Ron Royhab, on Thursday, Feb. 27, after he was selected by fellow councilmen to fill an opening when John McDonald resigned after the November election. Royhab and his wife Roberta moved to Marblehead from Toledo where he worked for 17 years at The Toledo Blade.  He retired in 2009 as Vice President and Executive Editor after a 45 year newspaper career. Ron is also involved with Marblehead Holy Assumption Church as Parish Council President.

Avery’s to hold benefit bake sale

On March 1 and 2, Avery’s Café in Marblehead will be holding a benefit bake sale. The hours of the bake sale are 7 a.m.-3 p.m. each day, or until all items are sold. All proceeds will go for The Children's Cardiomyopathy Foundation. Avery’s owners Josie and Scott Kluding’s grandson, manager Michelle and Eric Nowak’s son Charlie, is affected by the disease. 

The Children's Cardiomyopathy Foundation (CCF) is a national, non-profit organization focused on pediatric cardiomyopathy, a chronic disease of the heart muscle. CCF is dedicated to accelerating the search for cures while improving diagnosis, treatment, and quality of life for children affected by cardiomyopathy. The hope is that one day every affected child can be cured to live a full and active life. “A Cause for Today…A Cure for Tomorrow” is their motto.
