Debra Ann (Milefchik) Mathews, 62, of Oak Harbor died Monday, March 17, at Skyline Medical Center, Nashville, TN.  She was born on June 5, 1951 in Kansas City, Missouri to Arnold J. and Ardeth A. (Farr) Milefchik, and they survive.

A gathering of family and friends will be 2-8 p.m., Thursday, March 27, in the Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 216 Washington St., Port Clinton. Funeral mass will be conducted 10:30 a.m., Friday, March 28, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Port Clinton beginning with prayers offered at the funeral home at 10 a.m. Interment will be in Catawba Island Cemetery. Mary Ann Brown July 23, 1919-March 20, 2014

Mary Ann Brown, 94, of Marblehead, passed away peacefully at her niece’s residence in Port Clinton on Thursday, March 20. She was born on July 23, 1919, in Marblehead, the daughter of the late George and Mary (Gresh) Tverdick.

Mary began her working career as a young girl at the end of World War II at a hospital at Camp Perry where she took care of the wounded soldiers. She then went to work at the former Standard Products in Port Clinton until her retirement. While at Standard Products, she was a member of the “Matthews” bowling team, as she was an avid bowler.

She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marblehead, where she was also a member of the Altar-Rosary Society. She was a certified Red Cross nurse’s aide when she worked in the emergency room at Magruder Hospital in Port Clinton for over 10 years. Her passion in life was caring for others; she often took in people and cared for them. She was a very generous and giving person, always putting others needs above her own, which led her to volunteer at various charities throughout her life.

She loved cooking and helped feed those who had nothing to eat. She was also an avid flower gardener as she provided flowers for the altar at St. Joseph Catholic Church for the weekend masses.

Survivors include her nieces and nephews: Diane Slobodian Jordan, Port Clinton; Bonnie St. Aubin, Whitmore Lake, MI; Allen Distel and Kenneth Distel, MI; Mark Slobodian, PA; great-nephews: David St. Aubin and Kenneth St. Aubin; great niece and nephew: Emily Slobodian, Brian and Stacy Distel. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters: Anne Tverdick, Josephine Distel, and Margaret Slobodian; and brothers: Michael and George Tverdick.

Visitation will be held on Monday, March 24, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Peninsula Chapel, 7755 E. Harbor Road, Lakeside-Marblehead. On Tuesday, March 25, additional visitation will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 822 Barclay Street, Marblehead, from 10 a.m. until a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. with Father Daniel J. Ring officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Marblehead.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church for masses or to Hospice of Memorial Hospital in Fremont.

Mary Elizabeth “Liz” Williamsen, 91, of Port Clinton, passed away, Sunday, March 16, at Edgewood Manor Nursing Center, Port Clinton.  Liz was born on December 20, 1922 in Fremont, OH, the daughter of George and Leah (Moore) Miller.   

Visitation will be 5-8 p.m., Thursday March 20, in the Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, Port Clinton.  Funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m., Friday, March 21, in the funeral home.  Interment will be in Riverview Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in memory of Liz may be given to the Ottawa County Humane Society, 2424 E. Becky Brooks, 49, of Port Clinton, died Friday, March 14, at St Vincent Mercy Medical Center, Toledo.  She was born November 23, 1964 in Port Clinton.  On April 11, 1998, Becky married Tom Brooks.

Donald K. Young

Donald K. Young of Port Clinton and Ruskin, FL, passed away Thursday, March 13, with his sons by his bedside.  Don was known for his love of music, his sense of humor and his winning smile. He shared his love of music by playing his guitar and singing at Faith United Methodist Church in Port Clinton where he was a member for years. He also shared his talents at numerous nursing homes and senior centers.

Don married Trudy Baumbarger Young, who survives, on June 8, 1994. He is also survived by his sons Alan and Ron Young, both of Akron, Dan Young of Maumee, grandson Charlie and granddaughter Danielle, stepsons Randy (Lora) Baumbarger, Lonnie (Flo) Baumbarger, Vicki (Aaron) Forbush, step granddaughter Jaime Large.  He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.
