Rick Ferguson Oct. 31, 1949-Nov. 13, 2013

Rick Ferguson, 64, of Port Clinton, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 13, at his residence after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on Oct. 31, 1949, in Fostoria, the son of Richard Allen and Esther (Ireland) Ferguson. 

A graveside service with military rites will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 23, at Catawba Island Cemetery, Port Clinton. Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory has assisted the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be shared with the family at

Juanita S. Cooper March 8, 1922-Nov. 5, 2103

Juanita S. Cooper, 91, of Naples, FL, passed away on Nov. 5, at Sunrise Assisted Living in Bloomfield Hills, MI.  She was born on March 8, 1922, to parents Emmit V. and Mary Abby Slater.  On June 13, 1942, she married Gordon S. Cooper.  Juanita and Gordon founded Gordon Cooper Motor Sales, Inc. in 1950, where she was the bookkeeper, Office Manager, and Secretary Treasurer for over 30 years.  She was an honor accountant recognized by General Motors for 30 consecutive years.

In 1979, they moved to Naples, FL, as a winter home, becoming their permanent residence in 1995 from their previous home in Port Clinton, and Juanita became a member of Vanderbilt Presbyterian Church, where she served as a volunteer.  She also volunteered at North Naples Hospital, and was a former member of Catawba Island Club, Port Clinton Yacht Club, Palm River Country Club, and many other clubs and organizations in Ohio.  As well as her love of volunteer work, Juanita also enjoyed travel, golf, bridge, and mostly spending time with family.


Bonnie L. Vargo March 11, 1933-Nov. 12, 2013

Bonnie L. Vargo, 80, of Sandusky, met her savior and was reunited with her eternal family, Tuesday, Nov. 12, at Firelands Regional Medical Center, Sandusky, following a short illness. Bonnie was born on March 11, 1933,  in Sandusky, the daughter of Walter and Ethelyn (Zepernick) Richards.  

Visitation will be 11-12 a.m., Friday, Nov. 15, in the Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 216 Washington St., Port Clinton, followed by funeral service held at 12 p.m. Interment will be in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron. Online condolences may be shared with the family at

Devin Michael Kohlman June 28, 2000-Nov. 11, 2013

Devin Michael Kohlman, 13, of Port Clinton, died Nov. 11 at his residence.  Devin was born June 28, 2000, in Sandusky, the son of Kevin Michael and Alexis Lee (Nelson) Kohlman.  Devin was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and an eighth grader at Port Clinton Middle School.  He enjoyed playing Football, Soccer, Baseball, Archery, Basketball, Flag Football and he just got his first deer while hunting.


Ione E. Winkel May 14, 1918-Nov. 7, 2013

Ione E. Winkel, 95, of Genoa, passed away Thursday, Nov. 7, at St. Charles Hospital, Toledo. Ione was born on May 14, 1918, in Myrtle Point, OR, the daughter of Arthur A. and Cleo A. (Dickson) Parry.

Christopher G. Deerhake May 1, 1991-Nov. 10, 2013

Christopher G. Deerhake, 22, of Lakeside-Marblehead, died Sunday, Nov. 10, at Magruder Hospital, Port Clinton.  He was born May 1, 1991, in Sandusky, the son of Gregory and Susan (Sypherd) Deerhake.  He was a 2009 graduate of Danbury High School and he worked for South Shore Marine, Huron.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing and anything to do with the water. He had a U.S. Coast Guard License.


Diane M. Fought Sept. 22, 1950-Nov. 4, 2013

Diane M. Fought, 63, of Port Clinton, passed away, Monday, Nov. 4, at Riverview Healthcare Campus, Oak Harbor, after a courageous battle with cancer. Diane was born on Sept. 22, 1950, in Port Clinton, the daughter of Joseph and Isabel “Izzy” (Prokop) Fought.
