Kiwanis honors Law Enforcement Officers of the Year
On Wednesday Port Clinton Kiwanis honored the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office Deputy of the Year and the Port Clinton Police Department Officer of the Year. This year both rewards honored two recipients.
The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office Deputies of the Year are Deputy Marc Nye and his K9 partner Nero. Nye is a nine year veteran of the Ottawa County Sheriff’s office. He began as a corrections officer in 2004, was promoted to the Patrol division in 2006 and was promoted to K9 Handler in 2012. He is also a member of the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office Special Response Team. Nero is a 3 year old Belgian Malinois who received his training in Columbus and Fremont. He is a dual-purposed dog who excels in narcotics detection.
