| Vicki Greer is Teacher of the Quarter at PCMS |
Vicki Greer, Port Clinton Middle School Fleet 7 Science Teacher, has been selected as the first Teacher of the Quarter by her students. PCMS students voted during their lunch periods for the one teacher they thought has been the most influential to them. All students could vote from a ballot of all teachers. Greer was the highest vote-earning teacher out of the 29 teachers nominated. Some of the quotes form students on their nomination forms about Greer included: “She cares about me,” “she makes science fun” and “she makes us do the coolest stuff.” When asked what one word students would use to describe the teacher they were nominating they said: “amazing,” “groovy,” “exciting” and “caring.” Greer received a trophy donated by PCMS Student Council, Certificate of Appreciation, a $40 gift certificate donated by Gabriel Anthony's Salon & Spa and a free T-shirt gift certificate donated by The End Zone. In addition, Greer received a “coupon” for one class period to be taught by Carrie Sanchez, PCMS principal. Sanchez said the Teacher of the Quarter program was initiated this year to, “Give teachers opportunity to be recognized by their students for all their time and energy.”
