County deadline near for 4% rebate on Workers’ Compensation

The Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation’s Division of Safety & Hygiene sponsors 83 safety councils across the state, including Ottawa County. Ohio BWC offers employers who actively participate in a safety council program the opportunity for a 2 to 4 percent rebate on their workers’ compensation premium.

Employers not in a group-rating program who meet all program eligibility requirements also can earn a 2-percent participation rebate for meeting all of the rebate eligibility requirements and a 2-percent performance bonus for reducing either frequency or severity by 10 percent or with maintenance at zero. The rebate offer excludes self-insuring employers and state agencies. Restrictions apply to employers in a professional employer organization.

The Ottawa County Safety Council (OCSC) provides the business community with quality programs addressing occupational safety and health, workers’ compensation and risk management education and information. The OCSC keeps members informed about new techniques, products and services, and provides a thorough knowledge of additional services.

To qualify for the fiscal year 2020 rebate, you must enroll in the OCSC by July 31.

The OCSC monthly safety meetings are held on the third Wednesday of each month over lunch. For non-members, there is a $10 cost per person for each meeting. It’s free to OCSC members.

The OCSC is sponsored by the Ottawa County Improvement Corporation. If you would like to become an Ottawa County Safety Council member, attend an upcoming meeting, or for additional information, please visit www.ocic.biz/safety-council.
