A 12-gauge shotgun slug fired at the Marblehead Police Department during the Lighthouse Festival on Saturday, Oct. 12 has puzzled police and caused cancellation of the annual Haunted Open House at the U.S. Coast Guard Station in Marblehead.
Police Chief Casey Joy reportedly heard the blast, but did not realize a shotgun slug had hit the sandstone building just after 11 a.m. Despite crowds in town for the Lighthouse Festival, no one has reported seeing the shooter.
The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation and local law enforcement officials are continuing the investigation.
The popular Haunted Open House was scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 26 at the U.S. Coast Guard Station.
