Carol Ann McLaury

Carol A. McLaury, 80, of Port Clinton, OH passed away on Friday evening, Nov. 29, at her home surrounded by her family. She was born on June 15, 1939 in Shelby to the late Martha and Sam Amato. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and the Alter Rosary Society. She attended ICS and graduated from Port Clinton High School.

Carol was a member of the Port Clinton Yacht Club, the PCYC Shipmates, Junior Women’s Club, Member and past President of the Port Clinton Chamber of Commerce, the Midnight Christian Patrol, served as Ward president for the Democratic Party, She had been a body-double for Farrah Fawcett on the TV Series “Charlie’s Angels”, which led to her affair with Lee Majors. Carol had worked for her family as the Manager of Rich’s Market back in the late 70’s early 80’s, She was a Job Placement Specialist for WSOS, and Receptionist at Victory Honda. She was an avid tennis player, a Member of the LYMAN PACK at PCYC, working in her flowerbeds, loved to sew (making Habits for the Nuns at ICS back in the late 60”s,) making stained glass projects, reading John Grisham and Steven King novels, hanging out with her friends. Most of all Carol loved being with her children, grandchildren and the “littles”, she was lovingly called “Grandmother”.

Carol is survived by her former husband Max, her children: Bill (Maria) McLaury, Susi Gabel, Mike (Robin) Mclaury, Marsie (Brian Meacham) McLaury ,Casey Leigh (TJ) Hall, grandchildren: Cody (Megan) Gabel, Alex McLaury, Gunner Reynolds, Liam Hall, Kolton Hall, Max McLaury, Jesse Cook, Vicky Muzyka, Veronika Muzyka, great grandchildren aka “the Little’s”: Henry, Everett and Josephine Gabel, Tanner Hall, Kenaia Reynolds, her brother Jim (Char) Amato, Brother in law Rich Kokinda, Brother in law Bob Mays, many nieces, great nieces, nephews, great nephews and very special friend Harvey Lee “Majors” Yeary.

She was preceeded in death by her parents, sisters: Jeanne Kokinda. MaryJo Mays, daughter in law: Althea McLaury, son in law; Mike Gabel, nephew: John Mays and great nephew: Dale “Brother” Kokinda.

A private memorial service will be conducted at a later date. Memorial contributions may be directed to Stein Hospice,1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, OH 44870. Carol’s family wishes to thank Dr. Amy Reece, nurse Amy, UH Seidman Cancer Center at Firelands, Magruder Hospital, Katie McGraw: Palliative Care Nurse, ACCU Comfort Care, special friends: Rosemary Zelms and Susie Nye for the wonderful care and compassion given to their mother during her courageous battle for the last 6 years against kidney cancer.
