The Pyrate Fest Costume Contest will be one of the highlights of the Put-in-Bay Pyrate Fest XI on Friday through Sunday, June 21-23.

The Put-in-Bay Pyrate Fest XI will have a long list of family events when the hearty celebration lands at Put-in-Bay’s Downtown Harbor on Friday through Sunday, June 21-23. The Costume Contest will get the most attention, as pirates, mates, lads and lassies invade for the 11th edition of the popular weekend.

On Friday at 4 p.m., a band of pyrates will invade the Downtown Harbor by boat. Saturday’s fun activities include the Kids Costume Contest and an Adult Costume Contest, with the winner headed to the Cayman Islands. Saturday evening is the Buccaneer Bash at the Reel Bar. Sunday is the annual Kids Fest, and the 3rd annual 5K Pyrate Run & Fun Walk benefiting Stein Hospice.

The Pyrate Village and Pyrate Marketplace, a kid’s fun fest and black powder firing demonstrations will entertain visitors every day during the event. The Faire Wynds Circus will perform, and there will be historic displays of cooking, medicines, weapons and navigation.

There will be many re-enactors in pyrate gear, and visitors are encouraged to dress as pyrates. For more information, visit pyratefest.org or pyratefest on Facebook.

As a reminder that the Lake Erie walleye fishing has been sensational this year, Wylie Walleye is rumored to be swimming to South Bass Island for the Pyrate Fest.
