ELMORE – What’s better than enjoying live music, food, vendors and ice cold beer in downtown Elmore? Adding about 200 motorcycles to the mix. The 28th Annual Grub ‘n’ Suds Motorcycle Rally will be held on Saturday, Sept. 6, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. in Depot Park at 353 Ottawa St. in Elmore. The event will feature a wide variety of motorcycles, from custom to cruisers.

The event, which is free, is cosponsored by the Elmore Historical Society and ABATE of Ohio.

Grub ‘n’ Suds will include a Bike Show with trophies presented to the best custom, historical, cruiser, sport, trike and touring bike. Registration runs 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and public judging is from 2 to 4 p.m. Cost is $10 per class.

Riders can register for the annual Grub ‘n’ Suds Poker Run. Sign-in begins at 10 a.m. The first bike goes out at 11 a.m., and the last bike has to be in by 2 p.m. The event, which will offer cash prizes, cost $20 for riders and $15 for passengers.

Grub ‘n’ Suds will feature biker bands Dire Daze and Hole Shot from 2 to 8 p.m. Food will be available from food trucks and inside the Elmore Historical Society Barn. Several vendors will sell a variety of merchandise.

“Some will sell motorcycle gear, like headbands and leather gear. We’ll also have vendors selling things like candles, lotions and jewelry,” Event Coordinator John Stolar.

One vendor will sell custom tumblers, and another will sell custom gnomes. Stolar will host a stand selling his popular Rowdy Riders Hot Sauces and Sauces which he makes from old secret family recipes. Flavors include Habanero Hot Sauce, Moonshine Barbecue Sauce, Rum Apple Butter and Sweet Bourbon Glaze.

Vendor space is available for $20 for a 10×10-foot space or $40 for a 20×10-foot space. Spaces can be reserved by calling Stolar at 419-341-4683, or vendors can sign up and pay on the day of the event.

After nearly three decades, Grub ‘n’ Suds is still going strong.

“We expect between 150 and 200 motorcycles,” Stolar said. “All of Ottawa St. will be closed down. It’s a pretty big event.”
