Alexa Taylor, Kami Periat in Senior Spotlight for December

Alexa Taylor

Port Clinton High School announced that students in the Senior Spotlights for December are Alexa Taylor and Kami Periat.

Alexa Taylor has been involved in numerous activities during her high school career. Her sophomore year she received the Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership award. She has been a member of National Honor Society, Freshman Mentor, and International Club.

Alexa is Vice President of the Port Clinton High School Leadership Council, which assists in the planning and organization of numerous Port Clinton High School activities.

In addition, she has been a three-year member of the Lady Redskin Tennis Team and is a four year member and co-captain of the Girls Swimming and Diving Team.  As part of the successful Port Clinton Girls Swim Team, Alexa has been a three-time State Swim Qualifier, All – Ohio Swimming, and part of the SBC Championship teams.

Outside of school, she is part of the Greater Toledo Aquatic Club Swim Team. Alexa is the daughter of Aaron and Rachel Taylor.  Next year Alexa plans to continue her education majoring in Marine Science with a focus on oceanography.

Kami Periat is an outstanding swimmer at Port Clinton High School, holding numerous school and pool records. Her school records include the 100 backstroke, 100 freestyle, 100 butterfly, 200 free relay, and 200 medley relay.

Kami was the 2023 Ohio Division II State Champion and All-American in the 100 backstroke, third in the 50 free, and 2022 State Runner-up in the 50 Free. She has been named an All-Ohio and All-American swimmer and part of the Port Clinton SBC Championship teams.

These accomplishments have led to her signing a National Letter of Intent to continue her education and swim career at a Big Ten Conference school, The University of Minnesota.  She plans to major in Biology on a pre-med track.

Outside of her accomplishments in the pool,  Kami is also active in student life at Port Clinton High School as a member of National Honor Society, Future Professionals in Medicine, Secretary for the Class of 2024, and co-captain of the swim team. She is a member of the Greater Toledo Aquatic Club Swim Team and a life guard for Crew’s Nest on Put-in-Bay in the summer.

Kami is the daughter of Dan and Kim Periat.
