App helps Ottawa County residents to get winter heating assistance

Winter heating help through the Emergency Home Energy Assistance Program (EHEAP) is now easier to obtain by using an online scheduling system. Great Lakes Community Action Partnership’s EHEAP assistance is now available for residents of Ottawa, Wood, Sandusky and Seneca counties.

Residents applying for assistance must schedule an in-person appointment, which can now be done online by visiting www.glcap.org/winterheating and following the scheduling link. Scheduling is also available by calling 888-441-4327, but there can be long hold times during peak winter months.

“We help thousands of people every year with EHEAP, and field our most calls during the winter months,” said GLCAP Basic Needs Specialist Joyce McCauley-Benner. “Because of the many calls we receive, scheduling an appointment online is usually a significantly quicker process than scheduling via phone.”

Scheduling for EHEAP appointments has begun. Appointments begin on Nov. 1. More information and requirements are available at www.energyhelp.ohio.gov or www.glcap.org/winterheating.
