The Ottawa County FOPA Lodge #34 will bring the Back the Blue 5K to Port Clinton on Saturday, May 11. with registration beginning at 7 a.m. at Adams and Perry streets. Whether competitors run or walk through the streets of Port Clinton, they will be raising money for the Ottawa County FOPA Scholarship Fund and the Ottawa County Law Enforcement Memorial Fund.

Entry is $25, and the race begins and ends at Adams Street starting promptly at 8 a.m. For more information, call Roseann Hickman, 419-308-4690.

There will be awards for male and female runners and walkers in age groups ranging from 14 and under to 70 and older. T-shirts will given out while supplies last on race day.

A national fundraising event, Back the Blue officials report that now more than ever, law enforcement officials need to strengthen the bonds of trust with their communities. The race was founded by a former police officer who was injured in the line of duty.

Black and Blue partners with local supporters of the men and women in blue to put on a 5K race, with a share of the revenue going to a law enforcement agency or a police-supported charity of their choice. Back the Blue has dozens of local partners across the country who work with them to provide the best event possible for their communities.
