Booher Improvement Fund to enhance Junior Fair

The Kathy Booher Junior Fair Improvement Fund is to provide an enhancement to the Junior Fair, annually improving the Junior Fair experience for our youth. The 2019 Project will be to purchase and install two 14-foot ventilation fans in the Junior Fair Show Barn.

This is something that Booher had wished for for many years, helping to make the show ring just a bit cooler on those hot days. The fundraising goal for the project is $15,000 for two fans, signage and installation costs.

Donors will be recognized each year at the Ottawa County Fair opening ceremony. In addition, a permanent display will be incorporated into the Show Barn to recognize donors for years to come. Donations should be made to the Ottawa County Agricultural Society (OCAS) with a memo “KB Fund.” Mailing address: 7870 W.St.Rt. 163 Oak Harbor, OH 43449

For 26 years, Booher influenced generations of youth as the OSU Extension Educator for Ottawa County. She had a passion for advancing the youth programs and the Junior Fair.

Under her direction, the 4-H program grew and expanded through 4-H clubs, school programs and through other teen organizations under the 4-H umbrella. For many 4-Hers, the culmination of their project was showing at the county fair. This is where Booher was happiest, seeing the youth perform and being rewarded for their hard work. This fund will highlight a project each year that will improve some aspect of the Junior Fair and keep her passion alive continuously.
