Boys basketball sectional finals continue

During the boys varsity basketball sectional finals on March 1, the third-seeded Willard Crimson Flashes defeated the sixth-seeded Perkins Pirates 52-44 in a Division II sectional final. Willard improves to 19-4 on the season and will take on the second-seeded Lexington Minutemen with a record of 21-2 on Thursday, March 7 at 8:15 p.m. at Ontario High School in a district semifinal.

The Sandusky Blue Streaks Boys Varsity Basketball team improved their record to 22-1 on Friday, March 1, defeating the Lima Senior Spartans in a close 59-57 Division I sectional final game. The Sandusky Blue Streaks have now won five sectional titles in a row. The Spartans were the eighth seed and finished with a record of 14-10. The Blue Streaks will play a D-I district semifinal on Tuesday, March 5 at Lake High School against Perrysburg.

In a Friday night March 1 Division II Boys sectional final, the Mansfield Senior Tigers (17-6) won over the Bellevue Redmen (17-6) 56-48. Bellevue was scoreless in the second quarter. The Mansfield Senior Tigers have defeated the Bellevue Redmen in a sectional final game two years in a row. Mansfield will play the Shelby Whippets next week in a district semifinal game.

The Mansfield Christian Flames won against the St. Paul Flyers 69-50 on Friday, March 1. The Flyers were the fourth seed and finished the season with a record of 17-7. The Flames were the fifth seed and had a record of 20-4. The Flames will take on the number one Colonel Crawford Eagles. The Eagles have a 17-6 record. The district semifinal game will be on Tuesday, March 5 at 6 p.m. at Willard High School.

The Friday, March 1 Division I sectional championship game was between the tenth-seed Norwalk Truckers and the Sylvania Southview Cougars. The Cougars won 53-38. The Norwalk Truckers finished their season with a 12-11 record, The Cougars record is 18-5.

The Clyde Fliers lost a close Division II sectional title game to the Toledo Rogers Rams on Friday, March 1 by a score of 51-47. Clyde was sixth seed and finished with a record of 7-17. The Rams were the fourth seed and their record is 12-11.

The Shelby Whippets won their Division II sectional final matchup against the Vermilion Sailors 76-40 on Friday, March 1. Shelby is the top seed and scored 24 points in the first quarter. The Whippets are 21-2. The Sailors were the eleventh seed and finished their season with a 6-17 record.
