Carolyn “Kaye” Howerth, 83, of Port Clinton, passed away on Friday, June 17, at Edgewood Manor Nursing Center in Port Clinton. She was born on Dec. 10, 1938, in
Fremont, the daughter of the late Henry and Virginia (Falquet) McMillan.
She married Gareld “Gary” Howerth on Nov. 17, 1990, and he survives.
Kaye was a 1956 graduate of Fremont Ross High School. She worked as a clerk at the Ottawa County Recorders Office as well as the Port Clinton Chamber Office. She was a past president of the ladies Elks, former cub scout leader, taught Sunday school at Resurrection Lutheran Church, and was a member of Gypsum Community Church.
She was a devoted mother and grandmother and truly enjoyed spending time with her family. She enjoyed reading, jigsaw puzzles, eating sweets, baking, traveling, being active and on the go all the time. She was the Queen of coupons and never missed an opportunity for a bargain!
Survivors include her husband, Gary; children, Kirk (Sheila) Colvin, Orlando, Fla., Dexter (Tami) Colvin, Naples, Fla., Shawn (Amy) Colvin, Fremont, Beth (Mike) Scherry, Sheffield Lake, Mary (Bob) Morse, Rocky Ridge, Gary (Amy) Howerth, Daniel (Cheryl) Howerth, Tina Howerth (Verne McLean), and Mark (Elizabeth) Howerth, all of Port Clinton; sixteen grandchildren, and numerous great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents Henry and Virginia McMillian, brother John McMillan, and first husband John Colvin.
