Santa’s Elves were at work at the Catawba Island Historical Society. Debbie Newman and Kathie Holbrook prepare holiday gift basket for its membership drawing.

CATAWBA ISLAND — Area businesses and other friends have generously contributed items for a Holiday Basket of goodies soon to be gifted to a 2024 new or renewed member of the Catawba Island Historical Society (CIHS).

According to Kathie Holbrook, Vice President of the Society, “Everyone who has returned a 2024 CIHS membership application to us by Thursday, Dec. 7 will be entered in a drawing for the basket.

“Valued in excess of $200, the basket contents include gift certificates, confections, baked goods and a variety of luxury living products. The winner will be announced on Thursday, Dec. 14.”

“Time to Renew” notices will soon be mailed to the Society’s annual members shortly and membership applications are included in the CIHS newsletter fall/winter 2023 newsletter, which was broadly distributed electronically in early November. Additional information about joining the CIHS, and about the drawing, can be obtained at
