CATAWBA ISLAND – Catawba Museum at Union Chapel opened for its 8th season on Wednesday, May 28. Operation is scheduled for Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and the second and fourth Saturday of each month through Sept. 27. Hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. This year, a handful of dates will also be set aside for evening operation until 7 p.m. to accommodate those who would like to visit but are unable to do so earlier in the day. They include June 16, July 16, August 20 and September 17.

Everyone with a current annual membership in the Historical Society was included in a noon drawing on opening day. The prize is a private wine and cheese tour of the museum for up to 8 people. The date and time of the visit will be arranged directly with the museum’s curator, Jane Spriestersbach.

The Museum is located at 5258 E. Porter Street at the north end of Catawba Island. Entrance is free to the public, and the facility is handicapped accessible.
