Catherine S. Marinelli passed away peacefully on April 18 with her loving husband by her side. Her death occurred at age 62 while on vacation in the Virgin Islands. It was sudden and unexpected. Catherine was born in Toledo on June 8, 1960. Cathy was a kind, caring, and thoughtful person who was loved by all who knew her.

She is survived by her husband, Peter T. Marinelli; son Brian Marinelli (Christa Valko), daughter Beth Marinelli (Jeff Mueller), granddaughter Josie Marinelli, grandsons Noah, Otto, and Everett Mueller; parents, Patricia and Eugene Novak; sisters Karen, Laura, and Vicki; a special niece and several special nephews. She was preceded in death by her in-laws Marge and John Marinelli. She also had a loving cat Milo.

Cathy had many interests and was an avid reader, gardener, artist, cat lover, and cook. She presided over many family dinners at her home and loved to go to lunch with friends and family members. She loved nature and the outdoors, hiking and camping. She did much traveling with her husband Pete throughout the United States and the Caribbean.

She attended Oak Harbor High School and graduated from the University of Toledo with a Bachelor’s Degree in Administrative Services. She went on to attend Lourdes College and received a Master’s Degree in Organizational Leadership.

She was employed for almost 23 years by Metroparks Toledo as Director of Human Services and Volunteer Services, and Director of Central Services. She had previously worked as a paralegal for several law firms. She was very successful in her careers and highly respected by her colleagues. She was currently serving as a Trail Patrol volunteer for the Metroparks system at Wildwood Metropark.

Charitable donations in Cathy’s honor may be sent to the Fulton County Humane Society, 22450 Co. Rd. F, Archbold, OH, 43502; or Nature’s Nursery, 7790 Co. Rd. 152, Whitehouse, OH 43571.

A memorial service to honor Catherine will be held on Wednesday, May 3, at Toledo Memorial Park, Sylvania., OH, at 11 a.m. A luncheon will follow at the Moose Lodge in Sylvania, OH.
