More than 4,000 competitors and their families are forecast to travel to Ottawa County to compete in the 2019 CMP National Trophy Rifle and Pistol Matches, Smallbore Rifle Matches, CMP Games Events and Long Range Matches held at Camp Perry in Port Clinton on July 8 through Aug. 9. The crowd of competitors, families and spectators from around the U.S. support many of the businesses in Ottawa County and are a substantial source of revenue for the local economy.
To help assure their continued support of these businesses, the Ottawa County Chambers of Commerce and the Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) is encouraging businesses to participate in the Competitor Discount Program.
CMP competitors will be issued a 2019 National Match souvenir button to identify them and will be encouraged to visit businesses that display a Competitor Appreciation Certificate in their establishment. County businesses may extend a discount or other special offer to competitors wearing this souvenir button.
If your business chooses to participate, your name and a short summary of your business will be featured on an information sheet included in each competitor “Welcome Packet” upon their arrival at Camp Perry.
Businesses wishing to participate in the Competitor Discount Program should contact Jackie Slosnerick at the CMP at 419-635-2141, Ext. 626 or email jslosnerick@thecmp.org.
The necessary forms should be returned them to CMP by Wednesday, June 19.
The CMP and the chamber offices are also offering an opportunity to drop off menus, flyers or coupons to be included in each Competitor Welcome Packet. The CMP will put together 4,000 Competitor Welcome Packets this year. All materials should be delivered to the CMP, Camp Perry Training Site, Bldg. 3 (CMP Headquarters), Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m., no later than Wednesday, June 19.
