Ottawa County will have two drop-off locations for the Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas Child’s shoebox campaign. The locations are St. Paul Lutheran Church, 541 Church Rd., Marblehead and Oak Harbor Alliance Chapel. 11805 W. St. Rt. 105, Oak Harbor.

All individuals, organizations and churches may drop off filled shoeboxes on Nov. 18 through Nov. 25 at either location. As hours vary, to schedule donations or if there is a need for more information, contact Jean Rhodes in Marblehead at 440-739-0579 or Oak Harbor’s Mary Hill at 419-898-4048.

Operation Christman Child is a project of Samaritan’s Purse, a Christian nondenominational organization that collects shoeboxes filled with toys, school supplies and hygiene items to deliver to children in need around the world to demonstrate God’s love in a tangible way.

For many of these children, this will be the first gift they have ever received.

Each shoebox will also include religious literature. Since 2010 more than 14 million who have received a shoebox gift have participated in The Greatest Journey, a 12-lesson discipleship program.
