Owners Brett and Lexis Bauer, who have enjoyed living in Port Clinton and have discovered the benefits of CrossFit training, feel the Lake Erie shoreline region and the exercise regimen they’re making a way of life is a perfect fit.
CrossFit has a something for every age and fitness level, explained Brett Bauer. Beginners can be intimidated, but expert trainers and fellow CrossFit members can help introduce the CrossFit components to newcomers.
“Our parents had purchased the building for us to lease, an excellent space we felt was ideal for creating a CrossFit facility. As a result, we’re seeing a lot of new members embracing the CrossFit concept,” said Lexis Bauer. “The conversion of the building and the equipment available has really impressed our new members.”
CrossFit Port Clinton is one of more than 14,000 independently-owned CrossFit gyms that can be found in locations around the world. The CrossFit regimen is designed to provide a strength and conditioning workout to enhance 10 general physical skills, which are: Cardiovascular and respiratory endurance; Stamina; Strength; Flexibility; Power; Speed, Coordination; Agility; Balance; and Accuracy.
CrossFit offers a Level 1 training weekend course with a coach to get started, and to teach proper techniques, encouraging teaching points throughout each workout. The first class is always free, and full memberships or Weekend Warrior Memberships are available.
CrossFit Port Clinton has morning workouts on Monday through Friday and on Saturday.
CrossFit is a lifestyle characterized by safe, effective exercise and sound nutrition, according to its directives. CrossFit can be used to accomplish any goal, from improved health to weight loss to better performance.
The program works for everyone, according to the Bauers, both people who are just starting out and people who have trained for years. The magic, they say, is in the movement. CrossFit workouts are different every day and can be modified to help each athlete achieve his or her goals, or adapted to any age and level of fitness.
