DANBURY TWP. — Danbury was able to hang with St. Mary Central Catholic for one half, but the Panthers ultimately took control of the game and defeated the Lakers, 63-38. SMCC (12-2, 7-2 SBC River) led by just two points, 22-20, at halftime before winning the third quarter, 25-6, to take a 47-26 lead.
“Their pressure got to us in the second half,” said Danbury coach Nate Keller. “We turned the ball over too much and gave them easy points in transition.”
Nate Roesch led all scorers with 21 points, Jordan Jude scored 16 points and Myles Bruno finished with 11 to lead the Panthers. Ian Kuzma scored 12 points and Saylor Evans chipped in with eight to lead Danbury.
Gibsonburg 63, Danbury 33
Gibsonburg held Danbury to eight points in the first half and defeated the Lakers, 63-33. The Golden Bears (5-8, 4-5 SBC River) led 10-6 after the first quarter and pushed that lead to 34-8 at halftime.
“Weaver and Foster are good players for them,” said Danbury coach Nate Keller. “We struggled to score, missed some easy shots and didn’t shoot it well.”
Gibsonburg had three players finish in double figures — Addison Weaver (18), Jake Foster (14) and Mitch Tille (10).
Danbury (4-11, 2-7) got 13 points from Sam Perram and nine from Ian Kuzma.
