Danbury Local Schools Aquatics has added some new programs to its already busy schedule of activities. New programs include Aqua Boogie, Aqua Tune-Up, and a Swimming Stroke Fundamentals class as well as a Red Cross Certified Lifeguard and CPR for the Professional Rescuer course.
Aqua Boogie is like the latest dance fitness craze, but just done in the water. Enjoy the fusion of dance-based choreography to popular tunes with fun aquatic fitness having little or no impact on your joints in an electrifying and revitalizing Aqua Boogie class!
All ages, fitness, and dance skill levels are welcome to join the class. Aqua Boogie will be offered on Thursdays at 6:30-7:30 p.m. beginning March 14. Cost is $5 per class or purchase a punch card good for Aqua Boogie and Water Aerobics, with four classes $16, and 16 classes for $50.
Aqua Tune-Up is a fitness experience in the water targeting core muscles, total body toning and creating a unique work out with high intensity cardio that includes intervals, plyometric exercises, and a variety of swimming methods.
This class goes the full length of the pool and will use a variety of supplied equipment including water bells, fins, kick boards, and float belts to name a few. Swimming ability is not required but water comfort is necessary. Ages 14 and up are welcome. Aqua Tune-Up is offered Wednesday evenings from from 6:30-7:30 p.m. and Saturday mornings from 7:30-8:30 a.m. Cost March sessions is $60 or $10 each session.
Stroke Fundamentals is designed for the swimmer regardless of age who already has a strong foundation of the fundamentals for swimming and desires to learn the proper techniques of freestyle, backstroke, butterfly and breaststroke. Each week, our instructor will use class time to focus on each stroke with drills to improve body position, form, and eventually speed. Stroke Fundamentals is offered on Tuesday evenings at 5 p.m. Cost for the 3-week session is $30 for Danbury residents, $50 for non-residents. Pre-Registration is required at danburyschools.org//PoolForms.aspx – Swim Lesson/Anchor Swim Registration.
