Destination Toledo has announced that President and CEO, Lance Woodworth, has received a distinguished appointment by Gov. Mike DeWine to serve on the TourismOhio Advisory Board. This appointment recognizes Woodworth’s prominent role in Ohio’s tourism and destination marketing landscape, and his expertise to further the state’s tourism and development strategies.
“It’s an absolute honor to receive this appointment. To bring my decades of experience to this position and advocate for Ohio’s travel and tourism industry is something I’m very proud to do,” said Woodworth, who served as the longtime General Manager of the Jet Express in Port Clinton from 2004-18. “Thank you to Governor DeWine for this opportunity to help shine a light on Ohio as an ideal place to live, learn, work, and play, by showcasing the state’s diverse offerings and unique experiences.”
Woodworth is a Northwest Ohio native and brings a wealth of experience from Ohio’s travel and tourism industry to this appointment. He served as GM of the Jet Express, was past Board President of Lake Erie Shores & Islands, prior to Destination Toledo. Woodworth currently serves on the board of the Ohio Travel Association, Ohio Association of Convention and Visitors Bureaus, and is a graduate of the Ohio Tourism Leadership Academy.
The TourismOhio Advisory Board is charged with advising the director of the Ohio Department of Development and the director of TourismOhio on strategies for promoting Ohio’s numerous travel destinations and experiences. Woodworth was appointed to a term that began Friday, Oct. 27, and ends Sept. 27, 2024.
Destination Toledo is the Destination Marketing Organization (DMO) for the greater Toledo region and is the driving force behind supporting the local economy through tourism. Lucas County’s travel and tourism industry currently welcomes 15.9 million visitors each year, driving $1.5 billion in visitor spending.
