Dewey Glen Matthews, 77, of Port Clinton, Ohio died Wednesday, Aug. 28, at the Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky, Ohio. He was born Dec. 11, 1941 in Rogersville, Tenn., the son of Ulysses Grant and Lura Anna(Thompson) Matthews. On Easter Sunday, April 14, 1968 he married Nancy L. Cox, and she survives. Glen had worked for US Gypsum for 40 years, retiring in 2006. He served as a Deacon at Church of God of Prophecy for many years and enjoyed singing Gospel Music and watching the Pittsburg Steelers.
Survivors include his loving wife of 51 years, Nancy Matthews; children Lisa (Kenny) Gosik, Anthony W. (Leticia) Matthews, Theresa (Kenneth) Mazur, and Jason (Donna) Matthews; 11 grandchildren; eight great grandchildren and one on the way; brother Onnie (Wanda) Matthews and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by sisters Mary Harkleroad, Luna Benton, Virgie Simpson, Della Mowel, Nellie Hughes, Audrey Light, Dencil Malory; and brothers Johnie Matthews and Lloyd Matthews.
Visitation in Ohio was Aug. 30 at the Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home, 216 Washington St, Port Clinton. David Mowel officiated.
Visitation in Tennessee was Sept. 3 in the Gospel Lighthouse, 1609 Goshen Valley Rd, Church Hill, Tenn. Rev. Dave Morelock officiated. Burial followed in Harris Cemetery, Grassy Creek Road.
