Light House Reverse Raffle: This home, shown the way it looked in December, has been transformed into a Level 1 Recovery House by Light House Sober Living.

Light House Sober Living’s commitment to supporting men and women in the early stages of sobriety has been so successful that it became necessary to open a third recovery house to meet the needs of men who have successfully navigated recovery but are still facing the practical challenges to complete independence, such as finding sustainable housing.

Light House currently owns a men’s house and a women’s house in Port Clinton, and this third home will be a Level 1 Recovery House, which is the least restrictive category for recovery homes.

The Light House Sober Living board is inviting the public to help support the third home – while having a lot of fun – at the Cuatro de Mayo Reverse Raffle on May 4 at the Camp Perry Lodging & Conference Center at 1000 Lawrence Rd. in Port Clinton. Trevor Johnson, an officer with the Ottawa County Drug Abuse Response Team (DART), will emcee the event, which will feature food, drinks, side games, 50/50 drawings, a Chinese raffle and a reverse raffle grand prize of $2,000, with a bonus of $500 if the winner is present.

Doors open at 4:30 p.m. and dinner will be served at 5 p.m. Ticket pulls begin at 5:30 p.m. Tickets cost $55.

“A ticket includes one raffle ticket and dinner. We’ll have a taco bar, a margarita machine, soda and water,” said Event Chair Jessica Karazsia. “All of this supports our new home.”

The new men’s home will create another level of support for local men in recovery.

“We are looking to help people take that next step to independence. That’s what this house is about,” Karazsia said. “We’re offering somewhere safe for them to live on their recovery journey. They can still save money and gain skills to live independently.”

Light House Sober Living wants to thank the following businesses and organizations for offering monetary support for the event: Bayside Comfort, The Frederick Agency, Northern Manufacturing, Jet Express, Magruder Hospital, Oak Harbor Lions Club, NC Garage Floors and Ebb & Flow Wellness. Light House would like to thank for following businesses for in-kind prizes: GenoaBank, Miller Ferry, Latitude Woodworks, Spa Catawba and The Brick House.
