The Oak Harbor High School Art Department hosted a five-day elementary student art camp this month that was a huge success. Teachers Elly Gilbert and Mackenzie Warren introduced students to art from around the world, as well as art from various artists. Students created clay wall hangings, necklaces using Egyptian paste, studied Aboriginal Dot Art, Picasso self portraits, scratch art, printmaking and among many other art styles.
Following the final day of camp, an art gallery and reception in the Oak Harbor High School auditorium lobby displayed the artwork made during the week. Surveys suggest having more art camps like this, as well as multiple weeks of art camps.
