Pastor Tom Willhardt and the congregation of Elmore Church of God have invited the local community to enjoy a free Thanksgiving Dinner with them on Thursday, Nov. 23. The dinner will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Woodmore High School, 633 Fremont St., Elmore.
The turkey or ham dinners include mashed potatoes and gravy, stuffing, vegetables and rolls provided by Ole Zim’s Wagon Shed, as well as desserts donated by local churches.
This is the 15th year for the Free Thanksgiving Dinner, and remains the only one in the area to be held on Thanksgiving Day. It is sponsored by local churches, businesses, community organizations and the many volunteers who help make it a success. Last year, more than 600 meals were served.
This is the first year since the Covid pandemic in 2020 for the dinner to return as a dine-in feast. The congregation is excited to return to being a sit down dinner thanks to the overwhelming response of volunteers last year.
