The Catawba Island Township Trustees will hold their annual Fall Walk on Saturday, Oct. 14 at 10 a.m. at the beautiful Cedar Meadow Preserve. This event is free and open to the public for people of all ages, and includes donuts and cider!
Families and easy-going or avid hikers will start the fall adventure at the pavilion behind the Catawba Island Township Fire Department on Cemetery Road. Brad Schwan, of Schwan Orchards and a Catawba Island Township Parks Board Member, will lead the walk through Cedar Meadow Preserve and point out interesting facts about the nature preserve.
Again this year, those in attendance will receive a pumpkin, donated by Dave Howell of Howell Orchards on Catawba. The Catawba Island Volunteer Fire Department will be on hand to share safety tips and activities. In addition, the Fire Department equipment and gear will be made available for viewing and exploring.
The Catawba Island Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary will be serving delicious cider and donuts. The event is held annually to coincide with Fire Prevention Week, which is October 8-14. This event is weather permitting. Questions may be directed to Vicki Wheatley, Catawba Island Parks Board Member, at 440-227-8284.
