Port Clinton Volunteer Firemen provided a very warm salute to an Edgewood Manor resident celebrating her birthday on Saturday. While Ethel and the residents have restrictions concerning visitors, the band of hearty firemen created a special snowman for the party that all of the residents could enjoy from their windows.
The bitter cold made it too difficult to create a snowman in the usual way, so the firemen sprayed the snow with water in order to mold the body and head. Edgewood Manor staff and volunteers provided hot chocolate for the outdoor birthday party, and Kathleen Mintz, right, and Susan Doell baked the cookies. (Photos by D’Arcy Patrick Egan)
